You can spend most of the day at the water park, but it's located within Westgate Park which also has a 5K hiking trail and biking trail and playgrounds - including one for handicapped children,so you can do other stuff as well. There are also some picnic tables tucked around and about, as well as a snack shack and a gift shop. There's a gigantic area around the wave pool for sunbathing or making home base. I've always found the lifeguards to be very attentive and watchful. The kids have to be 42", I think, to ride this ride. You climb up what feels like zillions of stairs to my old knees - carrying your own tube, which can be kind of dicey with younger kids, then drop off this steep drop. For the more adventurous, there is something called the Great White. There is a large wave pool, a kiddie pool with some slides, fountains and other fun features, three waterslides that are relatively tame, but enjoyable. You can rent tubes too - for the wave pool. On Tuesdays and Thursdays you can get in for 1/2 price from 5-9 p.m. Children under 2 and adults over 60 are free. Admission, I believe, is $12 for adults, $9 for kids. You might can get them to settle in at the little kids' pool, but even so you'll probably want to move around some to keep an eye on them because the slides and things can impede your view. Be prepared to stay busy with young kids though. The size is manageable so, with older kids, you can kind of make a home base and have them come check in with you on occasion and feel pretty good about it. This is not a water park on par with something like Big Kahuna in Florida or Whitewater in Atlanta, but it is a fun place to take kids and teenagers on a hot, summer day.
